INTRODUCTION TO SAILING -- COMPETENT CREW (BK1)

Initially created for those who think or dream in a language other than English - this very popular course has evolved into an excellent place to start for any who want to develop excellent skills. Learn key terms, 4 knots and enjoy two fun filled days getting a good set of skills to help sail most any size boat. Sail the smooth waters of Oakland Estuary Then move out to the SF Bay to see what the fuss is all about. Sailng is fun recreation, a sport and a whole new lifestyle. Can take a test to earn an Afterguard certificate as Competent Crew.

ASA-101 BASIC KEELBOAT SAILING

Learn the mechanics of how a boat sails and how to sail a boat in light to moderate winds and sea conditions of the protected Oakland Estuary and upper South San Francisco Bay. Learn safety and collision avoidance rules of the US Coast Guard and ASA recommendations. Learn to speak and make sense of the language of the sea. Certified when able to sail in familiar waters without supervision. A preparatory Standard no prior experience or navigation skills required up to 25 ft. 2 full days of sailing. A 2 hr Friday Evening lecture is optional.

IHalf Day Charter Option: If take both courses together, kept within consecutive weekends or within 30 days of each other, and pass both, earn a half day chater as a reward for a job well done.
